Commercial Agreement Signed for the Development of a 250 MW Photovoltaic Solar Panel Project in Iraq

A commercial agreement was signed for the development of a 250 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar panel project in Iraq, supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner and more diversified power generation. Photovoltaic solar panels convert sunlight directly into electricity through semiconductor-based solar cells, which are combined into modules and larger arrays for utility-scale power production.

The project supports large-scale renewable electricity generation using solar PV technology, which is modular, scalable, and suitable for utility-scale deployment. Solar PV is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy technologies globally and is increasingly used to reduce dependence on conventional fuels, lower emissions, and improve energy security. The agreement therefore, represents an important step in expanding Iraq’s renewable energy infrastructure and supporting future grid-connected solar power development.
